Is it possible?

  • Run marathon at 100 years of age!
  • Drive car at the age of 90
  • Have sexually active life at after 70 years or more .    

          The answer is Yes.   There are places in earth where 90 years people behave like 30 years. They can be seen running, gardening, practicing karate, driving cars/bikes and some of them even vouch an active sexual life. With improvement in medical care, the average life span has increased from 31 years in 1900, to 67 years in 2010 with Japanese having maximum average life span of 84 years. The increase in age, however has resulted in more and more people falling victim to high blood pressure, diabetes, cancers etc (also called life style diseases or chronic diseases). These diseases affect heart, kidneys, eyes, and other organs adversely making an individual grossly handicapped in day to day routine.  

The aim of this article is to remind you that ageing is inevitable. Each one of us is ageing everyday 24 x 7. We have to invest for healthy ageing and take measures to combat it, lest our lives will be as difficult as others, who are burdened with disabilities due to effects of chronic diseases and ageing. Remember “those who lose health to earn money today may have to lose money to regain health tomorrow”

This articles series has been divided into three parts; 1st part dealing with changes as we age from 25 years onward, 2nd part dealing with the life of centenarians in blue zones and 3rd part dealing with what we should do to join the group of centenarians.
